Showers and storms are expected tonight, according to the Lincoln National Meteorological Service, which could result in heavy rains in much of central Illinois.

According to official information, heavy rains have already hit most of the area these days and the soil is saturated.

Many of the regions, including Counties Logan, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Menard, Peoria, Sangamon, Stark, Taswell, and Woodford, were under flash flood surveillance until 7 p.m.

Other counties are faced with dangerous weather prospects and point out that severe thunderstorms can lead to severe, isolated thunderstorms until Tuesday night. Some of these storms can cause locally damaging winds and heavy rains.

Small flooding was expected to continue along part of the Sangamon River near Monticello.

Thunderstorms can occur across central Illinois from Wednesday through Thursday, according to the weather department. Widespread bad weather is unlikely, but heavy rainfall can occur locally.

The water moves quickly as it continues to rise along the Ethel Parkway in Bloomington on Saturday afternoon. The grass above the waterline is shallow, which suggests the water was much higher the night before.
